J. Sebastian Bach is celebrated 275 years after his death

The Spanish public body Patrimonio Nacional has scheduled more than 40 concerts of different genres throughout 2025, including a double tribute to J. Sebastian Bach on the 275th anniversary of his death and the premiere of an unpublished work by Luigi Boccherini with the Stradivarius 1700 cello, both in the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The tribute to Bach will be given by the Ardeo Quartet, which will perform the Goldberg Variations BMV 988 on March 20 in the Column Hall of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Later, on April 26, Bach will also be the protagonist of a concert in which Frank Dittmer will play the Bosch organ in the Reai Chapel and will be accompanied by a flute player.
The concerts will be held in venues such as the Royal Palace, the Monastery of El Escorial and the Palace of El Pardo, the Palace of Aranjuez and the Monasteries of La Encarnación and San Jerónimo de Yuste.
Another of the most special concerts in the programme will be the one offered by the Nereydas group on 3 December in the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace of Madrid with the Stradivarius 1700 cello.
There, Lamentacio Matribu suis , an unpublished work by Luigi Boccherini, will be presented. The director of the group, Ulises Illán, and the soprano, María Espada, will star in a concert in which pieces by Baldassare Galuppi, Francisco Corselli and Antonio Ugena will be performed.
The Music in the Royal Chapels and Music in the Royal Sites cycles will allow the public to take a musical tour of the main Spanish monuments. Among other concerts, the Grande Chapelle will perform in March at the Monastery of the Descalzas Reales and Carmina Terrarum at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste in September.
