Navy strengthens surveillance and cleanup in the Alacranes Reef National Park

PROGRESS.- Personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy , through the Mexican Navy and the Ninth Naval Zone , are carrying out various actions on Perez Island, part of the Arrecife Alacranes National Park .

The above is intended to protect marine resources, combat illegal fishing , and conserve the coastal ecosystem.

During these operations, Marines and personnel specializing in maritime inspection and surveillance conduct constant patrols to prevent illegal fishing.

As well as ensuring compliance with current fishing regulations and the preservation of protected species.

In addition to surveillance efforts, naval personnel carried out cleanup tasks on beaches and rocky areas, collecting solid waste and floating debris carried by ocean currents, with the goal of maintaining a clean and pollution-free natural environment.

The agency reported that efforts were also being made to restore eroded beaches through the controlled relocation of sand and rocks.

This will contribute to the ecological balance and conservation of the coastal habitat in the protected area.
