Senate approves secondary laws for energy model in Pemex and CFE as public companies

The Senate of the Republic approved, in general (with 5 votes in favor, 39 against and one abstention) and in particular (81 votes in favor and 39 against), the secondary laws of the energy reform , which seek to strengthen Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), that is, it seeks to return predominance in their respective areas and with which the Government tries to attract private capital to a sector without funds to meet its self-sufficiency goals.
These are the Mexican Petroleum Law ( Pemex ), the Federal Electricity Commission Law ( CFE ), the Energy Planning and Transition Law , the Electricity Sector Law , the Hydrocarbons Law and the National Energy Commission Law.

✅ With 81 votes in favor and 39 against, the bill was approved, in particular and the reserved articles, in the terms of the opinion, which creates eight laws and reforms two, in order to establish a new energy model for the country.

In addition, five other laws are harmonized, establishing the foundations for a strong, reliable and sustainable energy sector , focused on national sovereignty and social justice.
In addition, it restores to both the oil and electricity companies the influence they had lost with the energy reform a decade ago, thus reaffirming their status as state-owned companies.

The discussion of these laws took place amidst mutual accusations between Morena and the PRI.
The ruling party legislators rejected that these changes violate the T-MEC . Meanwhile, the opposition criticized where the 10-peso gasoline price promised by the ruling party since the six-year term of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador went.
