SNTE Blockade February 27 and 28, 2025: The protest against the ISSSTE law

A protest against the ISSSTE law is scheduled for February 27 and 28, 2025 , led by Section 22 of the National Union of Education Workers ( SNTE ).
It is noted that 50% of the protesters will block toll booths in Oaxaca and state offices, while the other 50% will gather at the Congress of the Union in Mexico City (CDMX).
It should be noted that the SNTE blockade is called by Section 22 of the union based in Oaxaca, which will split into two to protest in its home state and in Mexico City.
As we anticipated, the protest against the ISSSTE law by the SNTE will take place on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28, 2025 , so you must take precautions both days.
According to local media, the SNTE blockade was agreed on Monday, February 24, only for Friday; however, after a new call, it was decided to protest from Thursday .
Although the avenues where these SNTE blockades will take place have not yet been established, it is expected that certain roads near the Congress of the Union will be affected in Mexico City, such as:
- Eduardo Molina.
- Congress of the Union.
- Ignacio Zaragoza Causeway
In the case of Oaxaca, the SNTE may take over the main toll booths , as well as federal agencies.

According to a document signed and shared by the SNTE , some of the requirements of Section 22 are:
- That the draft decree to reform the ISSSTE Law not be approved this year
- The repeal of the ISSSTE Law of 2007
- They are against the forums for the construction of a new system for teachers, and for the repeal of the Peña-AMLO educational reform.
- They ask that uniforms and supplies be delivered immediately to basic education students, a measure that would be mainly for Oaxaca
“We urge everyone to comply punctually and responsibly with this call, remaining on high alert to prevent a pre-dawn coup in the Chamber of Deputies, where there is an attempt to impose labor reforms that affect the rights of workers in the education sector,” the statement said.
