Teachers rejected the government's offer and ratified the strike on March 5

Teachers' unions rejected the government 's proposal to raise the minimum wage to $520,000 , a figure they considered insufficient to cope with inflation. The measure was announced after a meeting at the Ministry of Labor , attended by unions and representatives of the Executive.
The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) ratified the teachers' strike of March 5 to demand a better salary offer. "We reject the government's poor proposal and repudiate the intention to close the negotiations by decree," said Sergio Romero, of the Argentine Teachers' Union (UDA) .
Mobilizations and new force measures
On February 24, teachers mobilized in different parts of the City of Buenos Aires. In the morning, a demonstration was led by Roberto Baradel , while in the afternoon the unions gathered in front of the Ministry of Human Capital .
Another teachers' strike is planned for February 27, although no mobilization has been confirmed. Meanwhile, on March 5, a strike with demonstrations is expected in the City of Buenos Aires , in rejection of the Government's offer and in defense of the sector's salary rights.
They demand the restoration of FONID
The unions are also demanding the restoration of the National Fund for Teacher Incentives (FONID) and the reactivation of the national collective bargaining agreement , key points in the conflict. "The Government must guarantee decent conditions for teachers," said the Association of Technical Education Teachers (AMET) and the Confederation of Argentine Educators (CEA) .
Officials from the Federal Education Council and representatives from the provinces participated in the meeting of the Guaranteed Minimum Wage for Teachers , held at the Ministry of Labor . However, the unions were dissatisfied with the lack of concrete progress.
Tensions between unions and the government continue to rise. With the start of the school year just days away, the outlook is uncertain. If there is no new salary proposal, the teachers' strike could mark the beginning of a prolonged conflict in the education sector.
