Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum , after a tour of the Santa Fe and Observatorio stations, announced the start of operations of the Insurgent Train .

Together with the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Esteva Medina, and the head of the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF), Andrés Lajous, the president provided an update on the project's progress.

Claudia Sheinbaum explained that the civil and electromechanical works for the Insurgent Train have been completed .

Therefore, the transport that promises to connect from Zinacantepec to Mexico City will be available to users starting in January of next year .

Intercity Train

According to this report, testing phases for the train began last October and are expected to be successfully completed next December.

Also present on the Insurgent Train tour were the Mayor of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, and the Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez.

In her speech, the president asserted that the train will be a regional means of transportation that will benefit residents of the State of Mexico and the capital equally.

It's worth noting that the Insurgent Train began construction during former President Enrique Peña Nieto 's six-year term in 2014.

The project was resumed by the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, but was never completed.
