In Spain, writer Loyds exposed the unspeakable secrets of the Argentine upper class.

The Argentine writer Jorge Lebrón , known as Loyds , has unraveled the unspeakable secrets and miseries from the upper class of Buenos Aires, in the trilogy of the GCU saga ( People like one ), which was presented a few days ago at the Semana Negra in Gijón.
With Merca, Johnny and Pichón's Mother , Loyds, who took that name when he was a child after starring in an advertisement for an English bank, has set his sights on a wealthy and prestigious family that hides its "miseries" like someone sweeping trash under the rug.
After the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, "Argentine literature focused on marginalized realities with lower-class characters, and no one addressed what typically happens in the upper echelons of society," the author said at a press conference at the Gijón festival.
Merca , the first novel in the trilogy, has as its protagonist Johnny, a young man "empty" inside but "with his nose full of cocaine", reissued by Emecé in 2021, giving rise to a saga consisting of Johnny's Mom (2021) and Pichón (2023).

In a style characterized by the use of the first person and direct, uninhibited language , Loyds portrays a woman tormented by alcohol and barbiturate use in the second novel.
The closing of the trilogy is dedicated to "Pichón," the youngest son of the family, a spoiled "despicable" man due to his extremely violent nature and merciless beatings of his wife.

"He's the one with the most reprehensible behavior , and it was deliberate because I didn't want to arouse any empathy in readers, no matter how small," explained the writer, who also promoted the celebration of the Buenos Aires Black Week, a sister festival to the Gijón festival.
