Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz will work together again in Florian Zeller's 'Bunker'.

Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, husband and wife in real life, will work together again on the big screen in 'Bunker', by French filmmaker Florian Zeller, where they will play a married couple.
The specialized outlet Deadline reported Thursday that it's a psychological thriller that delves into the emotional and moral challenges faced by a couple amid the tensions of the world around them.
This tension erupts when, after 17 years of marriage, the wife begins to question their union when her husband, an architect, accepts a "morally ambiguous" project: to build a survival bunker for a tech billionaire.
The project will be produced in English, and Deadline noted that Zeller wrote it specifically with Bardem and Cruz, who married in 2010, in mind .
"I wanted to tell the story of a marriage and was deeply drawn to working with a real-life couple. I was immediately drawn to the idea of working with Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, two of today's most talented actors, who also form one of the most iconic couples," said the filmmaker.
In his opinion, 'Bunker' "will push the boundaries of narrative and emotional truth, blurring the lines between reality and fiction in a thrilling and deeply human way."
Cruz, 51, and Bardem, 56, first worked together on Bigas Luna's 'Jamón, Jamón' (1994). This was followed by Woody Allen's 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' (2008), for which the actress won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, as well as Fernando León de Aranoa's 'Loving Pablo' (2018), and Asghar Farhadi's 'Todos lo sabes' (2019).
