Endurance athletes may be at higher risk for dangerous heart scarring, researchers say

Seemingly healthy endurance athletes may have scar tissue buildup in their hearts, increasing their risk of dangerous abnormal heart rhythms, according to a new study.
About half of a large group of middle-aged male cyclists and triathletes showed signs of scarring in the heart's left ventricle , the lower chamber responsible for pumping oxygenated blood to the body, researchers found.
