Heavy rains with lightning and hail will continue from Monday to Thursday in these states.

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Tropical waves 9 and 10 will move and bring heavy rains throughout the week, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

These precipitations will be accompanied by lightning and possible hail, increasing the risk of flooding, according to the National Water Commission (Conagua) from July 7 to 10.

For Sunday night and early Monday morning, the Mexican monsoon in northwestern Mexico will bring very heavy rainfall in Chihuahua, Durango, and Sinaloa; heavy rainfall in Sonora, and showers in Baja California Sur.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure channel over the Northern and Central Mesas, interacting with atmospheric instability and the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, will cause heavy rainfall in Nayarit and Jalisco; very heavy rainfall in Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Michoacán, Guerrero, Guanajuato, the State of Mexico, and Puebla; and heavy rainfall in Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Colima, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Mexico City, Morelos, and Veracruz.

Tropical wave 9 will move over the southeast of the country, combined with the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea. It will generate very heavy rains in Oaxaca and Chiapas, and heavy rains in Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

All the aforementioned rains may be accompanied by electrical discharges and possible hail.

A low-pressure zone with the potential for cyclonic development will move southwest of the Jalisco coast, without affecting the national coast.

Tropical wave 10 arrives

The Mexican monsoon will continue in northwestern Mexico on Monday, bringing very heavy rains, accompanied by lightning and possible hail to parts of Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa, and Nayarit, as well as showers in Baja California Sur.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure channel over the Northern and Central Plateaus, interacting with atmospheric instability, the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, and tropical wave 9 moving over the south of the country, will bring heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by lightning and possible hail in the northern, northeastern, eastern, central, western, and southern states of the country.

In turn, a low-pressure channel in southeastern Mexico, combined with the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, in addition to a new tropical wave (number 10) that will approach the Yucatan Peninsula, will generate heavy to very heavy rains with electrical discharges in these regions, with intense rains forecast in areas of Oaxaca and Chiapas.

Finally, the hot to very hot weather will continue over parts of the northwest and north of Mexico, as well as the Yucatan Peninsula, with extremely hot weather forecast with temperatures exceeding 45°C in areas of Baja California and Sonora.

Valley of Mexico

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected throughout the day. In the morning, cool to mild weather is expected in the region, with colder conditions and fog in the highlands. In the afternoon, warm weather is expected, with a chance of heavy rain, with very heavy showers in the State of Mexico and showers with heavy rain in Mexico City, which could be accompanied by lightning and hail.

The minimum temperature for Mexico City will be 12 to 14°C and the maximum will be 22 to 24°C. Toluca is expected to have a minimum temperature of 6 to 8°C and a maximum of 18 to 20°C. Winds will be easterly at 10 to 20 km/h (6 to 12 mph) with gusts of up to 40 km/h (25 mph) in stormy areas, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) .

In the forecast period of the Conagua agency , the Mexican monsoon will prevail in the northwest of the country, maintaining the probability of heavy to very heavy rains accompanied by electrical discharges and possible hail in Sonora, Chihuahua and Durango, in addition to showers in Baja California Sur, with intense rains forecast on Wednesday in areas of Sinaloa and Nayarit.

Hot to very hot weather will continue over parts of northwestern and northern Mexico, with extremely hot weather forecast with temperatures exceeding 45°C in areas of Baja California and Sonora.
