The corner of Cádiz where Judeline grew up: golden sand beaches and natural water sources

Lara Fernández Castrelo, better known as Judeline , is one of the current voices on the Spanish music scene. Although she showed a keen interest in music from a young age, her professional career took off in 2020 when she participated in producer Alizzz's project "Descalificados." Later, in 2003, she signed with Interscope Records and released several singles that further elevated her reputation. She even participated in major festivals such as Primavera Sound and Sónar.
Her musical style straddles indie pop and R&B , with touches of flamenco, trap, and electronic music. The influence of her homeland is also evident in her songs. She was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 2003, but grew up in the coastal town of Los Caños de Meca , also in the province of Cádiz .
A small tourist townLocated within the municipality of Barbate , the town of Los Caños de Meca has just 200 inhabitants. Focused primarily on tourism, the town stands out for its beautiful, extensive beach , which includes some nudist areas. Here you can relax in its many restaurants and terraces, with the sea in the background and a delicious dish of local cuisine on the table.

With 4,750 meters long and golden sand, it stretches from Cape Trafalgar , protected within the Tómbolo de Trafalgar Natural Monument, to the cliffs of La Breña , which are part of the La Breña and Marismas de Barbate Natural Park. Thanks to its great length, we can visit one area or another depending on our tastes: the Trafalgar Lighthouse part is wilder and with greater waves, the Marisucia part is better for families due to its calm waters, the Pirata part has all the necessary services and if we go towards Barbate we will find the nudist areas.
Sources of fresh waterThe area was populated since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains found. Roman remains were also found. However, its current name dates back to the period of Muslim domination of the Iberian Peninsula. The name refers to the springs (spouts) of high-quality fresh water that emanate from the rocky cliff faces and were already being used during the Arab period. The name "Mecca," the holy city of Islam, was added to the name.

These curious sources range from small humid areas to large springs, with flow rates that vary depending on the season and rainfall. At the end of the cliffs, we find the so-called Caño Grande , the main source in the area, which is only accessible at low tide.
How to get to Los Caños de MecaThe drive from the city of Cádiz to Los Caños de Meca takes approximately 50 minutes via the A-48.
