The Running Man Trailer Features an Unhinged Glen Powell

I can picture the C-suite pitch for The Running Man in my head right now: Hit Man meets The Purge. Judging by the first trailer for the Glen Powell–starring action flick, that's exactly what we'll get in theaters this fall.
Directed by Edgar Wright (Baby Driver), the dystopian film is the second adaptation of the 1982 Stephen King novel, following Arnold Schwarzenegger's take on the story nearly 40 years ago. Powell stars as Ben Richards, a down-on-his-luck father in need of money to cure his ailing daughter's condition. So he joins a reality-television show in which "hunters" chase contestants around the world and attempt to kill them. If Powell can survive for 30 days, he wins a cash prize. Key word: if.
Whereas the original film took place on several contained sound stages, Wright's remake has a neat twist. Now the reality show follows its contestants around the world. The Running Man also stars Josh Brolin, Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, William H. Macy, and Lee Pace. You can catch it in theaters on November 7, 2025.
In the first trailer, an energetic Powell darts around the city like a madman and trudges through the sewers to survive. He dons disguises—that's the Hit Man part—and hangs out with a wacky, conspiracy-raddled Cera. "Have you ever wondered if this game is rigged?" Cera's character asks. Oh, the one where no one ever survives? "Guess we'll find out," Powell responds.
Later in the clip, a man points to a floating drone that's recording him on "FreeVee" before he darts out of the room. I thought I'd heard the last about Prime Video's ad-supported streaming platform when Amazon announced it was shutting down Freevee last November, but The Running Man has other plans. Just when you thought our dystopian future couldn't get any worse, it's also streaming on FreeVee.
