A massive investment on the Baltic Sea. They will dig under the beaches and dunes.

- The Baltica 2 project, the largest wind farm in Poland, is entering the next stage of work on sea-to-land directional drilling.
- The use of modern HDD technology allows for precise drilling below the ground surface, without interfering with the beach and dunes, at a depth of 20-30 meters.
- The Baltica 2 farm, with a capacity of 1.5 GW, will be the largest offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea and will power approximately 2.5 million households with clean energy.
The Baltica 2 project, Poland's largest wind farm , is entering its next phase. Experts are beginning work on a sea-to-land directional drilling system that will connect the offshore and onshore sections of the farm "while respecting the environment and landscape," according to investors PGE and Ørsted.
Each of the four drillings will be approximately 1,200 m long. The work, performed by ROMGOS Gwiazdowscy and ZRB Janicki, utilized modern HDD technology, which allows for precise drilling below ground level— without the need for excavation or interference with the beach or dunes . A joint statement from the companies states that each of the four drillings will be approximately 1,200 meters long and will be performed at a depth of 20-30 meters below ground level.
This is a symbolic moment for the entire project - after the submarine cables are brought to land, under the coastline, the offshore part of the investment will meet the onshore part.
" said Ulrik Lange, Managing Director of the Baltica 2 Ørsted project. "By using HDD technology, we can connect these two areas in an environmentally safe way and almost invisible from the beach," he added.
The commencement of HDD drilling in Choczewo is another important step in the implementation of the Baltica 2 project. This is the least invasive method for installing cable lines, without requiring the closure of part of the beach during construction. This safe method, conducted at significant depths, allows us to carry out the work while respecting the landscape and the natural environment.
- said Bartosz Fedurek, President of the Management Board of PGE Baltica.
The installation of export cables (carrying electricity from wind turbines to land) is planned for the turn of 2025 and 2026, i.e. after the completion of drilling work.

The investors assure that appropriate technical and organizational measures have been implemented to limit noise nuisance for residents and tourists , including carefully selected equipment and locating the work away from residential areas and beaches.
However, access to the beach is only available via designated pedestrian routes, and investors are asking to respect this.
If there are any difficulties or the need to change traffic organization in Choczewo, information about this will be provided in advance - they promise.
