Police find 11-year-old Patrycja. Disturbing circumstances come to light

Patrycja, an 11-year-old resident of Dziewkowice near Strzelce Opolskie ( Opole Province ), disappeared on Tuesday, May 13 at around 12:30 p.m. The girl was visiting her grandparents and was supposed to return home. When Patrycja's mother returned from work, she did not find her daughter there. She felt a twinge of anxiety, which increased when it turned out that none of her family or friends knew what had happened to the 11-year-old.

Police in Strzelce Opolskie began searching for the girl. Firefighters, both professional and volunteer, and residents of Dziewkowice also joined the operation. As part of the operation, a nearby quarry was searched.

What could have happened to Patrycja? Officers ruled out the parental kidnapping hypothesis from the very beginning. The others were, however, intensively checked and verified.

— There is a real threat to life and health — junior asp. Dorota Janać from the District Police Headquarters in Strzelce Opolskie told "Fakt" on Wednesday, May 14.

Soon, a child alert procedure was initiated, aimed at disseminating information about the missing child as quickly as possible, in order to increase the chances of finding the child and catching the perpetrator. An RCB alert was sent to residents throughout Poland informing about the search for the 11-year-old. The breakthrough in the case came the very next day.

On Thursday, May 15, before 6 a.m., the police reported via the X service that 11-year-old Patrycja had been found and that the so-called child alert had been canceled . Soon, disturbing details began to emerge.

According to information from the RMF FM service, officers found the teenager — safe and sound — at 5 a.m. in an apartment in Żory, Silesia. — Patrycja is currently being transported to the Opole region in the company of police officers — Agnieszka Żyłka, press officer for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole, told Wirtualna Polska.

The police informed TVN24 that in connection with the case, the services had detained a 24-year-old. The young man was allegedly caught at his workplace at around 4 a.m. The police are now investigating whether the meeting between the man and the 11-year-old was voluntary, and for how long and under what circumstances the man and the girl first met.

The search for the girl involved not only police officers from Strzelce Opolskie, but also from Opole, Katowice and Łódź, as well as officers from the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime. As Commissioner Agnieszka Żyłka admitted, the child alert was also very helpful, as it sent a lot of information to the services in connection with the case.
