After the blunder with the National Health Fund budget, coalition partners are strengthening their forces in the Parliamentary Health Committee

After losing the vote on the National Health Fund's 2026 budget, the coalition is strengthening its presence in the Parliamentary Health Committee. MPs fined for missing the meeting have appealed the disciplinary spokesman's decision.
- In the first half of July, the Parliamentary Health Committee issued a negative opinion on the draft financial plan of the National Health Fund for 2026.
- The opposition won the vote by cunning, taking advantage of the absence of coalition MPs.
- The Civic Coalition MPs who were absent from the meeting were fined . We hear they appealed the decision of the club's disciplinary spokesman.
- The coalition is strengthening its Health Committee. Karolina Pawliczak (KO) and Joanna Mucha (Polska2050-TD) have been appointed to the committee. Mucha replaced Ewa Szymanowska.
An image failure - such opinions flowed from the parliamentary corridors after the ruling coalition lost the vote at the July meeting of the Health Committee regarding the financial plan of the National Health Fund for 2026.
The opposition took advantage of the absence of MPs from the Civic Coalition and the Polish People's Party and the National Health Fund budget received a negative opinion.
The KO club fined its MPs Elżbieta Polak, Krzysztof Bojarski and Adrian Witczak - PLN 500 each.
- MP Polak and MP Witczak presented justified reasons for their absence, but they are still facing consequences because it is a serious matter - Tomasz Nowak, the KO disciplinary spokesman, explained to Rynek Zdrowia.
Financially punished MPs had the right to appeal.
"I know that two appeals were filed some time ago. There may be a third as well. I haven't checked recently. The appeals committee will consider these applications in September," said Tomasz Nowak, the KO disciplinary spokesman.
The fourth coalition MP absent from the committee was Radosław Lubczyk from PSL-Trzecia Droga, with whom Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski held a disciplinary conversation .
On the day of the vote's defeat, the balance of power in the Health Committee was evenly split – 20 coalition MPs and 20 opposition MPs. Chairwoman Marta Golbik (Civic Coalition) may have the deciding vote.
At the next session of the Sejm, the ruling party strengthened its forces. The following MPs were added to the committee:
- Karolina Pawliczak (KO),
- Joanna Mucha (Poland2050-TD).
For the latter, this is a return after serving as deputy minister of education. She replaced Ewa Szymanowska (Polska2050-TD), who was dismissed from the commission.
