New rules in primary care clinics. An important regulation has come into force

Since Friday, May 9, 2025, the provincial hospital in Łomża has been running a patient assistant program. Their presence is intended to make using the facility's offer more friendly and comfortable for patients. The meeting inaugurating this activity was held at the hospital in Łomża, with the participation of, among others, a member of the provincial board, Jacek Piorunka.

Three people will provide assistance in various areas of the hospital's operation for the next two years. Their tasks include supporting patients in registering for the clinic, operating ticket machines, and finding the right path in the treatment process. As Jacek Piorunek emphasized, this support is to make it easier to navigate the healthcare system, especially for the elderly and those who may have difficulties with modern technological solutions. He called them "assistant first entry to the hospital" and emphasized that this is a very important function and a significant help, especially considering, as he put it, "the specific structure of the Łomża hospital".

The facility in Łomża focuses on high quality of services, and the introduction of patient assistants is one of the solutions that combine care with social responsibility. The hospital director, Dariusz Domasiewicz, explained that the hospital is a place where a person usually comes with a problem, and the support of an assistant who smoothly guides such a person through the applicable procedures and helps to resolve the matter is a great help.

This project also has significant social and professional significance. The assistants come from the Social Integration Centre in Piątnica and are trained by the "Dialog" Foundation. Representatives of the Social Integration Centre emphasised that this project combines support for patients with a real professional opportunity for people excluded from the labour market. Izabela Dąbrowska, a member of the board of the "Dialog" Foundation, emphasised that cooperation with the hospital not only provides a huge opportunity for professional integration and learning a new profession, but above all changes the role of the participants. Previous clients of social care are now becoming people who are asked for help. - This is a great idea, because the benefits are mutual - emphasised Izabela Dąbrowska, a member of the board of the "Dialog" Foundation, quoted in the press release of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal's Office.
