Rutkowski: let's not waste the potential of the Online Patient Account

The guest of the eleventh episode of the Rynek Zdrowia podcast "Stechtoskop" was Prof. Piotr Rutkowski , chairman of the board of the Polish Oncological Society.
According to the expert, integration with cancer prevention and active communication with citizens should be an element of the digitalization of the healthcare system.
Prof. Rutkowski pointed out that current digital tools, such as the Internet Patient Account (IKP), despite their potential, are still not fully utilized. According to the oncologist, the development of this platform can help not only doctors, but also translate into a real increase in the effectiveness of preventive measures.
- Monitoring risk groups, reminders for patients that they should have a cytological or HPV DNA test, communication with citizens through artificial intelligence. These are directions worth investing in - said Prof. Piotr Rutkowski.
The expert drew attention to a paradox: the state was able to send an automatic referral for vaccination against COVID-19, but in the case of HPV vaccination for children - important for oncological prevention - such a solution is missing.
Our interlocutor also advocated for the integration of IKP with the mObywatel application, so that contact between the system and the patient would be natural, simple and effective. According to him, it is the trust built by active and intelligent health messages that influences the success of health systems in the most developed countries.
