“In the north, a lady my mother's age told me: 'I loved it, I never thought it would be so good, Tony Carreira can put the batteries in'”

Nuno Gonçalves and Fernando Ribeiro, members of the Amália Hoje project, recalled in Posto Emissor some of the stories they experienced when their debut album, released in 2009, was a huge success and took them on a tour of the country from one end to the other.
When asked about the “most beautiful thing” that a fan had told Amália Hoje at the end of a show, Nuno Gonçalves highlighted a story that was “significant to the success of this project”. “We were giving a concert in the North - I don’t remember which city it was - and there was a lady my mother’s age who said to me: ‘Look, I already knew ‘Gaivota’, but I didn’t know about the project. I’ll be very honest with you: I loved it, I never thought it would be so good, Tony Carreira can help me’”.
This year, the supergroup - composed of Nuno Gonçalves, Sónia Tavares (The Gift), Fernando Ribeiro (Moonspell) and singer-songwriter Paulo Praça (Turbojunkie, Plaza) - will once again sing Amália. Concerts are scheduled at the Coliseums of Porto (1 March) and Lisbon (7 March), and a second album is also in the works.
