'I'm the only black person in the room': She created a game production company in the US

'I'm the only black person in the room': She created a game production company in the US

I was giving birth to two things at the same time: a child and a company. Raissa Leme

For her, the company's goal has always been bigger than just developing games: it's about building experiences that provoke questions and transformations in those who play.

Mother's first project, Le Zoo, is the embodiment of this vision. Inspired by social, political, and existential reflections, the game was born from an initial idea of creating an alien character who would question the way we live. Over time, this concept evolved into an immersive game, envisioned as a "surreal amusement park."

In the universe of Le Zoo, the player passes through a portal and assumes the form of a Zutt, a creature that abandons its human form to focus on consciousness and experience. The journey takes place across three realms—heaven, earth, and hell—each with experiences that reflect distinct aspects of reality. The narrative is shaped by the player's choices: the actions taken in the game reveal who they are, what values they hold, and what consequences they are willing to face.

The characters' construction is inspired by archetypes, ancestry, and cultural diversity, always permeated with doses of humor, because, as Raissa explains, self-discovery doesn't have to be painful. "We want the player to ask themselves: who am I in this game of life?" she summarizes.

Thus, Mother seeks not only to entertain, but also to offer an invitation to reflect — on identity, choices, and how each person can, in their own way, reinvent the world around them.
