It is likely that, as never before, the vast majority of global public opinion and the positions of states are against Israel, its military campaign, the methods used in Gaza , and the government's responsibility for failing to secure the return of the hostages. Even within Israel, opposing or critical opinions of the government and its actions in Gaza and the West Bank are beginning to be significant and public. The just and justified reactions of the Israeli government and armed forces against the cowardly attacks by Hamas were initially accepted without difficulty. Two years later, they are generally considered disproportionate, excessive, and even worthy of the epithet of genocide. The most outraged even make repeated allusions to the Holocaust. From victim, Israel quickly became a criminal.
