Janeth Arcain was part of the most successful generation of Brazilian women's basketball, alongside Hortência and Paula. A world champion in 1994, a two-time Olympic medalist, and a four-time WNBA champion, she knows all too well what it means to see Brazil at the top. Therefore, when analyzing the current state of the sport, she is categorical: the country needs to invest in its youth academy to dream big again.

"Brazilians are very short-sighted, but sport isn't like that. Basketball needs national championships, structure in the youth teams, and young players gaining experience. Only then will we reap rewards in the medium and long term," he stated.

Janeth acknowledges that these difficulties are nothing new—they existed in her generation and even in previous ones. The difference, she recalls, is that back then, Brazil managed to transform its efforts into historic achievements. Today, she sees positive signs, such as the presence of Brazilian players in the WNBA, but emphasizes that continuity is still needed. "We have talent, we have potential. What's missing is strengthening this path so these girls can lead Brazil back to the top four in the world," she emphasized.
