Pope Francis has seen a "slight improvement" in his medical condition, the Vatican announced on Wednesday in its bulletin on the state of health of the Supreme Pontiff.
Francis, 88, is hospitalized due to bilateral pneumonia and spent his 13th night at the Gemelli hospital in Rome.
"The Pope's clinical condition has shown a further slight improvement in the last 24 hours," the Vatican said.
The Pope continues to receive oxygen, but has not experienced any further respiratory crises. A CT scan revealed the "normal evolution" of the inflammation in his lungs.
The Pope's kidney failure has also been "resolved," according to the bulletin. The prognosis remains guarded.
According to a Vatican source cited by Reuters, the Pope is alert, eating well and walking around in his hospital room.
