The municipality of Oeiras has the highest median gross income – €15,862. This figure keeps Oeiras at the top, ahead of the municipalities of Lisbon (€14,282), Alcochete (€13,654), Cascais (€13,406), and Coimbra (€13,241). The data was released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) this Friday and takes into account the median values of declared gross income minus the IRS paid by taxpayers (data calculated based on information from the Tax Authority) for 2023, the most recent year for which information is available.

In that same year, the median value of gross income per taxpayer was 11,446 euros in Portugal, an increase of 7.2% compared to the previous year .

The Greater Lisbon region was the one that once again recorded the greatest income disparity between municipalities (4,107 euros): the lowest value was recorded in Amadora (11,755 euros) and the highest in Oeiras (15,862 euros).
