Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii in Cinemas Worldwide in April: Watch the 'Echoes' Video in HD and 4K

The legendary concert that Pink Floyd gave in the empty amphitheatre of Pompeii in 1971 will return to the big screen. And it will be accompanied by an album. You can now 'take a look'

“Live At Pompeii”, a concert film that documents the legendary show that Pink Floyd gave in the empty amphitheatre of Pompeii in 1971, will return to the big screen.

A restored version of Adrian Maben’s 1972 film, titled “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII”, will be released in IMAX cinemas worldwide from April 24th. Tickets will go on sale via the film’s official website from March 5th, and the film is expected to be shown in Portuguese cinemas.

This version has been digitally remastered in 4K and features audio mixed by Steven Wilson (English musician and producer, ex-Porcupine Tree), and is presented as the “definitive version” of the film. A video of Pink Floyd performing 'Echoes' in Pompeii has, however, been released, in high definition and 4K.

Along with the film, a new album of the same show, with the same title, will be released through Legacy Recordings, a subsidiary of Sony Music. “Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII”, the album, will be available in CD, digital audio and vinyl formats, as well as on DVD, Dolby Atmos and Blu-ray, from May 2nd.

For drummer Nick Mason, in a press release, this Pink Floyd concert film “is a rare and unique document of the band playing live, in the period before” the composition of “The Dark Side of the Moon”.
