Italian Film Festival in Brazil announces dates for new edition

The next edition of the Italian Film Festival in Brazil, whose program annually makes a selection of films from the European country available for free, will be held between October 29 and November 29.
The announcement was made last Wednesday (16) by the organization of the event, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary. "In 2025 we complete 20 years of history, adventures, emotions and a lot of tradition in Italian cinema. From October 29th you will be able to check out our entire program", says the publication on Instagram.
The event, which is already part of the national cultural calendar, continues in a hybrid format, with screenings in more than 100 cities across Brazil and an online menu available on the festival's official website.
The full selection of the best of Italy's recent production has not yet been released, but one of the films that will be available will be the historical drama "L'Abbaglio" ("The Illusion" in English), by Roberto Andò, which follows a Sicilian colonel, played by actor Toni Servillo, during the Expedition of the Thousand, led by Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The film tells the story of a risky military chess match, marked by unexpected maneuvers and a surprising outcome, after Garibaldi faces the powerful Bourbon army while trying to conquer Palermo.
When all seems lost, he entrusts Colonel Orsini with an ingenious plan: to simulate a retreat with a group of wounded soldiers to deceive the enemy commander. Besides Servillo, Salvatore Ficarra, Valentino Picone, Tommaso Ragno, and Giulia Andò are in the cast.
The opening for guests of the Italian Film Festival is scheduled for October 28th, at the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, in Ibirapuera Park, in São Paulo.
