Public works. Contracts signed until May double

Public works contracts signed under public tenders totalled 1.833 billion euros up to May, a “significant” year-on-year growth , doubling compared to the same period last year, the sector association AICCOPN announced this Friday.

Public works contracts concluded through direct adjustments and prior consultations recorded a year-on-year decrease of 27%, concluded the most recent Public Works Barometer from the Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industry Workers (AICCOPN), released in a statement.

Overall, 5,493 contracts were signed and registered on the Base Portal, for a total amount of 2,314 million euros, corresponding to increases of 40% in the number of contracts and 75% in value.

Regarding the volume of public works tenders promoted, it fell by 3% until the end of May, in year-on-year terms, to the global amount of 4.892 billion euros, but increased by 39% in number.
