The Ourique Book Fair kicked off today and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Literary gatherings , book presentations, storytelling sessions, and musical performances are some of the highlights of the Ourique Book Fair program, in the district of Beja, which celebrates its 25th edition this year.
The event, promoted by the Ourique City Council through the Jorge Sampaio Municipal Library, starts today and runs until November 13th, to "promote a love of reading and to value the book as an instrument of knowledge, sharing and citizenship".
It takes place in Praça Padre António Pereira, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and admission is free.
The program included, among other highlights, a musical performance by José Diogo Bento and José Santos this Thursday. Then, on Saturday, there will be the launch of the 9th volume of the Cadernos Culturais d'Ourique, by Orik - Associação de Defesa do Património de Ourique, and talks with the authors Margarida Rebelo Pinto and Sara Rodi, on the 9th and 11th, respectively.
