The death of Angela Ro Ro , aged 75, this Monday (8) , in Rio de Janeiro, ends a trajectory marked not only by talent and irreverence , but by a hard battle in recent years. The singer, one of the most striking voices in Brazilian popular music , was facing a delicate health and financial crisis.
Since June, Ro Ro had been hospitalized at Silvestre Hospital in Cosme Velho after being diagnosed with a severe lung infection. Her condition worsened, and she underwent a tracheostomy, according to G1. According to lawyer Carlos Eduardo Lyrio , the artist suffered a new infection and succumbed. The publication also stated that the death certificate listed a generalized infection and bacterial pneumonia as the cause of death.
'Completely debilitated, unable to go to the bathroom alone'
Before her hospitalization, close friends had already expressed concern. Music producer and personal friend Paulinho Lima made a public appeal on social media in May 2025, revealing the singer's condition.
"It hurts me to know that loneliness does exist! [...] Roro is in her apartment in Copacabana, where she has lived since she was a child, completely debilitated, not wanting to see anyone, self-medicating, insisting on not seeing doctors, except those who can consult over the phone. Those who managed to enter her home, using the most diverse strategies, found her debilitated, unable to go to the bathroom alone," he wrote on Instagram.
