See the legacy that Marília Mendonça left to her son

Almost four years after the tragic death of Marília Mendonça, the artist's legacy continues to bear fruit for her only son, Leo, now five years old. The singer, recognized as one of the biggest names in Brazilian country music, passed away in November 2021, the victim of a plane crash while traveling to fulfill her concert schedule.

According to Brazilian copyright law (Law 9.610/98), royalties for songs composed by Marília will continue to be paid for up to 70 years after her death. Thus, it is estimated that Leo will be entitled to the income generated by the 335 works registered by his mother until the year 2092.

Currently, the total value of Marília Mendonça's inheritance is estimated at around R$500 million. Of this amount, 60% will go to her son. In addition to her musical income, this percentage also includes future profits from productions about the singer's career. A film and a documentary with previously unreleased material are already in the works, with release scheduled for the coming years.

In addition to the musical and audiovisual collection, Leo inherited physical assets, such as the house where he lived with his mother and maternal grandmother, located in a luxury condominium in Goiânia. In general, the estate includes intellectual assets, real estate and future income from the artist's image.

Meanwhile, the child's father, singer Murilo Huff, is filing a lawsuit for sole custody of Leo. The boy currently lives with his maternal grandmother, Dona Ruth. In a statement made on social media, Murilo stated: "I would never ask for sole custody without reason. Unfortunately, I cannot reveal all the evidence because it is under court seal. But the truth will prevail."

The artist also emphasized that he does not want to separate his son from his maternal family. As he explained, his decision is solely for the child's well-being: "I made this decision for the greater good. Don't judge without knowing the full story."
