Another quarantine has been introduced in the Rostov region due to the creeping bitterling on an area of 1,123 hectares

A quarantine has been declared again in the Rostov Region due to the spread of the creeping bitterling, as reported by representatives of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor.
The outbreak of the quarantine weed was identified in the Volgodonsk region on a plot of 156.2 hectares. In connection with this, the regulatory authorities introduced a special phytosanitary regime on a territory with a total area of 1,123 hectares.
It is worth noting that the bitterling is one of the most dangerous and difficult to destroy weeds. Its distinctive features are a developed root system and a high rate of spread, which leads to the degradation of agricultural lands and their unsuitability for cultivation.
Within the quarantine zone, the sale and transportation of plant products is permitted only with documents certifying their compliance with established standards. A ban has also been imposed on the export of soil and soil mixtures outside the specified territory.
The use of grain, silage and straw feed for feeding livestock is also prohibited. In addition, restrictions are imposed on grazing livestock in fields and meadows located in the quarantine zone.
Previously, similar quarantine measures due to this harmful plant were introduced in the Morozovsky district and the city of Volgodonsk.
