Belousov: the military-political situation in the world is worsening

At a meeting of heads of military departments of the SCO countries, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov stated that the military-political situation in the world is deteriorating, and the potential for conflict has reached a threatening level.

"The current military-political situation in the world remains complex and tends to deteriorate," Belousov said. In his speech, he noted the aggravation of geopolitical contradictions, the destruction of the foundations of strategic stability and the decline in the role of international institutions.

Belousov believes that this is connected with the "destructive policy of the collective West, aimed at maintaining global dominance." According to him, this leads to the creation of hotbeds of instability, including in regions associated with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Belousov emphasized that negative trends are especially noticeable in the SCO space and in adjacent regions.
