Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary reacts to US President's statement
Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi responded to the statement made by US President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in The Hague, TASS reports .
The head of the White House yesterday compared US strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran with the bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
"It was essentially the same thing — it ended the war. If we hadn't taken out the Iranian nuclear facilities, they would be fighting right now," Trump said.
The issue was raised by journalists during the Chief Cabinet Secretary's regular press conference. Hayashi responded that the discussion on assessing historical events should be led by experts.
