Trump Calls for Netanyahu Corruption Case to Be Dropped

US President Donald Trump has called for an end to the corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.
"There is no one in the history of Israel who fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu. Bibi Netanyahu's trial should be overturned immediately or a great hero who has done so much for the nation should be pardoned," Trump wrote.
He stressed that he was shocked by reports that Israel was continuing a "witch hunt" against the prime minister after experiencing "one of its greatest moments in history."
According to Trump, his tandem with Netanyahu has become the most comfortable and effective. The US saved Israel, and they will save Netanyahu, Trump said.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. The court charged the politician with “crimes against humanity and war crimes,” saying the prime minister used starvation as a method of warfare.
In addition, in December 2024, Netanyahu became the first Israeli prime minister to be charged in a criminal corruption trial. He was accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollars in cigars and champagne from a billionaire Hollywood producer in exchange for aiding his personal and business interests, and of facilitating favorable regulations for media moguls in exchange for favorable coverage of his and his family’s activities.
Netanyahu's trial has been delayed numerous times since it began in May 2020, with the prime minister asking for a delay due to the Gaza war and subsequent conflict in Lebanon. It is unclear when the next hearing will be scheduled. The prime minister denies any wrongdoing.
