Former Deputy Minister of Education of Russia Denis Gribov is accused of a series of frauds with budget funds totaling tens of millions of rubles. As TASS reports with reference to law enforcement agencies, the criminal case unites 21 episodes of criminal activity, and in just one of them the damage exceeds 54 million rubles.
Gribov, who was wanted internationally, was detained last December at a Moscow airport. Investigators claim that the former official, together with a group of accomplices, organized a scheme to embezzle funds allocated for teacher training. According to law enforcement officials, the training was not actually conducted, and forged documents were used for reporting.
Three people have been arrested in the case, including the former vice-rector of the subordinate institute and representatives of the personnel company. Gribov, who held the post of deputy minister since 2020 and was dismissed at his own request in August 2024, expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
Earlier it was reported that the court sent another organizer of thefts from SVO fighters to pretrial detention .
