1 police officer was killed and 2 others were injured in the accident

The accident took place at around 17.30 at the junction of Saadet Street and Okyar Street in Tatlıcak Neighborhood of Karatay district.

A tractor-loaded truck, whose driver's name is unknown, crashed into the back of a police vehicle. One police officer was killed at the scene of the accident, while two others were seriously injured. Numerous health, fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The injured police officers were taken to Konya City Hospital after receiving first aid at the scene of the accident.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

The statement made by the Konya Governorship regarding the accident was as follows:

“On February 25, 2025, while our police teams affiliated with the Karatay District Police Department were performing their patrol duty, a traffic accident occurred when a truck hit the back of a squad car at the Saadet Street-Okyar Street intersection in the Tatlıcak Neighborhood of the Karatay district. In the accident that occurred, one of our police officers in the squad car was unfortunately martyred at the scene. Two of our police officers were injured. After the first intervention of the 112 teams dispatched to the scene, the police officers who were taken to the City Hospital are still receiving treatment. A multifaceted investigation into the incident is being meticulously carried out. We wish God’s mercy on our martyred police officer in this tragic accident, patience and condolences to his grieving family, and a speedy recovery to our injured police officers. May our nation rest in peace.”
