1.7 tons of cocaine impregnated with fossil flour seized

A container loaded with " fossil flour " sent from South America to Spain and arriving at Istanbul's Ambarlı Port as a transit item was deemed risky by units of the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement and placed under close surveillance. Upon inspection, 1.7 tons of cocaine-like drugs impregnated with fossil flour were detected.

The Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the detection of the drugs. A controlled delivery was implemented to fully uncover the drug smuggling attempt, and the container involved in the operation arrived at the Port of Barcelona under joint surveillance by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement and the Spanish National Police.

As a result of the operation carried out in Madrid by the Spanish Police Department in relation to the container, whose movements in Spain are also closely monitored, and in which the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement officers also participated, the three members of the organized crime organization, who were the perpetrators of the drug smuggling attempt in question, were caught red-handed as soon as they came to collect the drugs.

As part of the operation, which is a good example of international cooperation in the global fight against drug trafficking, the investigation into the incident is being carried out by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and units of the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement continue their activities to combat drug smuggling, which threatens public health and public order both in our country and internationally.

Additionally, 105 kilos of cannabis were seized at the Hamzabeyli (Edirne) Customs Gate.

105 kilos of cannabis-type drugs were seized in an operation carried out at the Hamzabeyli Customs Gate by Customs Enforcement teams affiliated with the Ministry of Trade.

Following intelligence gathered by the Hamzabeyli Customs Enforcement , Smuggling, and Intelligence Directorate and the Edirne Provincial Gendarmerie Command, a truck-type vehicle arriving at the Hamzabeyli Customs Gate was assessed as suspicious. Following the assessment, the vehicle was sent to the X-ray scanning system, and suspicious activity was detected. A detailed search was conducted, including the participation of Atlas, a sensitive-nosed narcotics detection dog. The detailed search resulted in the seizure of 105 kilograms of cannabis, valued at 65 million Turkish Lira, hidden within 97 transparent bags. The investigation into the incident is reportedly ongoing with the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
