Coup attempt foiled in Mali

The statement, read on state television ORTM, said a "marginal group" within the security forces that was trying to destabilize the country had been crushed.

The statement, which stated that the suspects were detained on August 1, emphasized that among them was a French citizen named Vizilier Yann.

The statement also shared that the situation is completely under control and that the investigation is continuing to find the other perpetrators of the incident.

Among those detained are names from the ranks of brigadier generals and lieutenant colonels.

A coup attempt was also prevented in Mali in May 2022.
