Health and police teams were dispatched to the address upon notification. The body of Mehmet Emrah Düşmez, who lost his life in Tepecik Education and Research Hospital, was taken to Elazığ.

Düşmez's funeral was held yesterday in the Harput Family Cemetery.

The Public Security Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau, SAM Bureau, Motorcycle Police Teams, Intelligence Branch Directorate and Konak District Police Department teams also caught Mustafa Ercan on the day of the incident. While the moments when the suspect walked on the street for a while after the incident and then got into a taxi were captured on the security camera, Mustafa Ercan stated in his interrogation by the police that Düşmez, with whom he had done a joint dental supplies and car rental business 10 years ago, had defrauded him and that there was animosity between them over debts because of this. Mustafa Ercan claimed that he shot the dentist because he learned through a DNA test that he was the biological father of his two children, aged 7 and 9, from his divorced wife 2 years ago. Ercan said, "Thereupon I shot Düşmez. I could not control my anger and took a video of it and sent it to his mother." The suspect, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested.

Düşmez's mother Aysel Düşmez spoke about the incident. Düşmez, who claimed that Mustafa Ercan's statement was a lie, said, "There should not be a different reason behind the brutal murder. It should be evaluated as an act committed by an evil-spirited person and costing a person their life, reputation and youth. Mustafa Ercan first said 'a debt issue' in his statement. Then the subject changed direction with the DNA lie. First of all, it should be clearly understood that the murderer who committed the murder did not behave normally, especially when he sent me the video after committing the act. It is known to the public that this murder, which was committed with a completely mentally ill attitude, was committed with the mental state of a substance addict or someone with a schizophrenic structure. We can easily and sincerely say that the DNA incident is a complete fabrication. The documents regarding the issue will be shared with the public after the necessary examinations. Neither my late son is the father of the children nor is my son the one who owes money to the other party. While our family is the victimized party in every aspect, the crime committed was shifted to a different point.
