Operation launched into a 1.3 billion dollar scam… Detention warrants issued for 60 people

A "Money Laundering" operation was conducted in Istanbul. The operation was conducted based on Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) reports, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) reports, confidential witness testimonies, account activity, camera recordings, and other collected evidence. The operation was described as a second wave targeting several companies and individuals based in Laleli. It was emphasized that detention warrants were issued for 60 suspects. It was determined that these individuals monopolized money transactions with various countries, particularly Libya, through their companies through various payment systems and used illegally obtained foreign bank cards on POS devices for fictitious transactions.
It was determined that the suspects generated over 1.3 billion lira in criminal proceeds from commissions received on a transaction volume exceeding 47 billion lira. They attempted to convey the proceeds to companies through methods such as issuing invoices and recording them in legal books to give the impression that they were generated through commercial activity. The proceeds were then laundered through various methods. As part of the investigation, 255 properties, 60 vehicles, 24 company partnership shares, the suspects' bank accounts, and cryptocurrency assets were seized.
