Statement from AFAD regarding post-earthquake work in Balıkesir

In a statement made on the Presidency’s Next Social account, it was stated that the work following the earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district on August 10 was systematically carried out under the coordination of AFAD within the scope of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) and the Turkey Post-Disaster Recovery Plan (TASİP).

🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsThe statement stated that AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan, along with Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu, members of parliament, and representatives of relevant institutions, visited citizens residing in the earthquake-affected neighborhoods of Şahinkaya, Yaylacık, Çaygören, Süller, Armutlu, Küçükbükü, Çakıllı, and Kızılgür.
The statement noted that damage assessment efforts are continuing intensively in the region with 285 teams and 570 personnel, and that citizens are being informed about improvement efforts, particularly the installation of containers within the scope of temporary shelter.
The statement pointed out that the wounds of the earthquake will be healed as soon as possible, and reminded that all institutions and organizations are at the service of the citizens to meet the needs of the region.
The statement included the following information:
For our citizens whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged, 200 living containers were quickly delivered to the region. Within the first 36 hours of the earthquake, groundwork was completed and container installation began. On the third day of the earthquake, 104 containers were installed and delivered to our citizens. The necessary procedures have been completed to meet the requests of 200 families who chose cash shelter support instead of containers, and payments are being made. As damage assessments are completed, container installation and cash support efforts continue. All resources of our state, along with all its institutions and organizations, are at the service of our nation.
