Actor Uğur Uzunel talked to Marmarabirlik workers about Rıfat Ilgaz

Actor Uğur Uzunel talked to Marmarabirlik workers about Rıfat Ilgaz

Nilüfer Municipality's "2025 Writer of the Year Rıfat Ilgaz" events continued this time with the "Factory Readings" talk. The program, which also featured actor and director Uğur Uzunel, was held at the Marmarabirlik Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperative Union.

The cooperative's Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Yıldız, General Manager Mehmet Ertaş and Nilüfer Municipality Council Member Resul Tarman also accompanied the event held at the Marmarabirlik Headquarters Building.

Following the short film about Rıfat Ilgaz, one of the important names in Turkish literature, actor and director Uğur Uzunel interviewed the workers. Speaking about Rıfat Ilgaz's identity as a teacher and a man of letters, Uzunel said, "One of the publications that made me know and read him was the humor magazine called 'Markopaşa'. It was published weekly at the time. Its editor-in-chief Sabahattin Ali, Aziz Nesin and Rıfat Ilgaz were also here. The content of the magazine was rich. It made me laugh a lot when I read it."

Uzunel, who said that Ilgaz got into trouble because of the poems he wrote, said, "He was experiencing serious unemployment. Despite tuberculosis and a hard life, he did not lose his sense of humor. Hababam Sınıfı was one of his important works. It was also adapted for the silver screen. Our cinema has not yet been able to surpass this in Turkish comedy films. It was a film that exploded at the box office, broke records and created a stampede. Being transferred to the cinema made him a much more famous writer."

Uzunel thanked those who contributed to the event and noted that it was very valuable for writers to be remembered with such events. Uzunel then read the story "Kurban Kanı" from the writer's work "Radarın Anahtar" and chatted with the employees about the story.

Marmarabirlik Board Chairman Ali Yıldız thanked those who contributed to the realization of the program and stated that they will continue to contribute to the organization of such events.
