The Sümela Monastery, built by carving the rocks on the steep slopes of Karadağ in the Altındere Valley of Trabzon's Maçka district, hosted 151,315 visitors between January and June.

The monastery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List, is at the top of the Trabzon guide for culture and nature lovers.

Sumela Monastery, whose visitor potential increases with the tourism season, offers its guests different alternatives such as nature tours, mountain biking and photo safaris.

The monastery, which also draws attention with the Church of Hagia Varvara, known as "St. Varvara", makes significant contributions to the history, culture and nature tourism in the region.

Visitors coming to the Altındere Valley take minibuses and travel on the route to reach the monastery.

Visitors then reach the monastery by walking along a path surrounded by forests.
