If you can't change the flow, change your perspective! 'Stress-free life is neither healthy nor possible'

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan , noting that stress has become a part of popular life today and even children use expressions such as “relieve stress”, said, “The origin of the word stress was first used to describe pressure points formed in mines during the Industrial Revolution. Over time, this concept has also entered human life. After the 1960s, Canadian physiologist Hans Selye defined this concept by conducting scientific studies on stress. He explained the human body’s response to stress and determined its physiological criteria. He defined the body’s responses to stress as ‘fight or flight’. Later, ‘freeze’ was added to these reactions. The body experiences a serious chemical discharge under stress. The sympathetic nervous system kicks in and puts the body on alert. Our shoulder, neck and back muscles contract. Vascular resistance increases, blood pressure rises. There is a gastrointestinal spasm. On the other hand, all energy stores in the body, sugar, blood, fats, etc. are pumped into the blood. In the event of acute stress, the brain gives a state of war. "All energy sources and attention increase, pupils dilate. The person becomes incredibly lively and fights. If he runs away, his blood pressure drops. His head falls, he faints," he explained.
