She beat breast cancer, which she discovered during a checkup after being persistently called by KETEM employees.

45-year-old Çamdalı, who has been frequently called by officials at the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Center (KETEM) for five years to participate in free cancer screenings, did not go for a check-up, thinking she was healthy.
After persistent calls from healthcare professionals and feeling discomfort in her body, Çamdalı had a mammogram at KETEM in Mustafa Kızıklı Healthy Life Center in January this year and was referred to the hospital after a spot was detected.

🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsDiagnosed with second-stage breast cancer following tests at Kayseri City Hospital, Çamdalı underwent surgery at a private hospital in the city in July following the necessary tests and examinations.
Çamdalı, who did not lose her positive outlook on life and her hope, underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy for a while and managed to beat cancer after a difficult treatment process.
"I wish I had listened to those 30 calls just once."Leyla Çamdalı told an AA correspondent that the process she went through strengthened her both physically and spiritually.
Recalling that women of a certain age are searched by KETEM, Çamdalı said that she was also searched in this context, but that she got angry when answering the phones at first.
Çamdalı stated that he realized that KETEM employees were calling him for his health after he recovered from the illness, and continued:
"I never imagined the process would be so challenging. By the time I was in my 40s, KETEM was constantly calling me, and I was getting fed up with them. I kept asking, 'Why are they calling me all the time? Enough. Why are you calling me?' Before the process, I must have received about 30 calls in a year. I wish I'd listened to those 30 calls just once. They were calling for one reason: to speed up the process. I kept telling them I was feeling unwell, but I'm so glad they called. I wish I had called them before they noticed my lump, because I learned I had the second stage. I wish I had listened to KETEM when they first called me, so I could have caught the disease in the first stage."
Çamdalı stated that he went to Kayseri City Hospital upon KETEM's direction and was happy to regain his health after surgery at a private hospital.
Çamdalı, emphasizing that she fully understands the importance of early cancer diagnosis, said, "I urge our women to absolutely return our calls. As we all know, early diagnosis saves lives. I can say that the persistent calls from healthcare professionals saved my life. I truly want to thank them. If it hadn't been for their insistence, I might have been diagnosed with the disease in its fourth stage."
"I survived this process without paying even a single lira."Çamdalı emphasized that she didn't pay any financial fees during her treatment, saying, "I also want to thank our government. Chemotherapy drugs are beyond our means. Thanks to our government, I received my treatment at a good hospital without paying a single lira. I know some people procrastinate a lot, wondering if chemotherapy is free or paid. I definitely survived this process without paying a single lira."
