The best time for circumcision to heal without infection is the "summer vacation" period.

Samsun Urology Specialist Op. Dr. İdris Kıvanç Cavıldak provided information about the circumcision operation.
Dr. Cavildak explained that circumcision involves removing the skin covering the penis, which reduces the size of the outer tissue, in addition to the erection at the tip of the penis. He said, "Circumcision is a surgical procedure, and this procedure can have various complications. Procedures not performed by physicians carry the risk of resulting in circumcision errors. While these procedures were performed by professional circumcisers in the past, they are now performed only by healthcare professionals."
Discussing incorrect practices in circumcision, Specialist Dr. Cavildak said, "Circumcision is a relatively simple surgical procedure in terms of its structure. It is performed within minutes under local anesthesia. The patient returns to their normal life after a rapid recovery period. However, sometimes, permanent problems can arise due to certain errors, both during and after the procedure. A circumcision error is defined as damage to the tissue outside the outer skin at the time of the incision. The tissue should be cut circularly and evenly, and an appropriate amount should be removed. Otherwise, the penis may become curved later in life, and if this is not recognized during development, more serious surgery may be necessary in the future. Cutting the tissue at an angle can lead to problems in the future."
Dr. Cavildak also touched on the impact of age at circumcision, saying, "Age at circumcision is not a definitive factor in penile malformations, but experts generally agree that circumcision should be performed between 6 months and 2 years of age and between 5 and 7 years of age. However, circumcision malformations can also occur outside this age range. Furthermore, any curvature in any direction is considered a circumcision malformation because it affects the final penis length. Other common and serious issues identified among circumcision malformations include amputation of the glans penis and damage to the urethra. These are undesirable conditions that increase the risk of infection during the healing phase. It is crucial to take immediate precautions to prevent these problems, which significantly impact the healing process and reduce the circumcised child's standard of living."
"There may be loss of sensation problems"
Cavıldak emphasized that if the penis loses nerve tissue during circumcision, a loss of sensation naturally occurs. "Therefore, a person's sexual life can be affected during adulthood. Improper use of the equipment is a contributing factor to this situation. While modern laser incisions are remarkably precise, the dosage and the effects of the procedure can cause this. The specialist performing the procedure must pay careful attention to the incisions made on the equipment and be particularly careful not to cause loss of sensation; otherwise, irreversible loss of sensation and permanent visual impairments are possible," he said.
"Infection-free recovery is important"
Cavildak added that circumcision is a surgical procedure that takes very short and is not difficult, and said:
This is a delicate procedure that must be performed by a specialist to avoid any post-procedural risks. Summer vacation is one of the most suitable times for circumcision to ensure a healthy, rapid, and infection-free recovery for our children. We believe that neonatal (first 30 days) circumcision, if not necessary, would create an unnecessary burden on a baby trying to hold on to life. The most appropriate time is between 6 months and 2 years of age and between 5 and 7 years of age.
