US military posts 'no entry' sign on Mexican border

US military posts 'no entry' sign on Mexican border

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced that new military zones have been declared, covering approximately one-third of the Mexican border, in order to increase the country's military presence in the south. Parnell stated in a statement to the press that approximately 225 kilometers of federal land near the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Training Area in Arizona and a 400-kilometer area along the Rio Grande in southern Texas have been placed under military control.

The spokesman, Parnell, said the expansion of military zones was aimed at "closing security gaps" in the fight against human trafficking networks and drug cartels at the border.

Stating that the US has made "extraordinary progress" towards establishing full control at the border, Parnell said that efforts in this direction will continue with determination.
