11 Best Hoka Shoes, According to Esquire’s Editors

11 Best Hoka Shoes, According to Esquire’s Editors
Transport Shoes
Pros
  • Quick toggle lacing
  • Easy for everyday
Cons
  • Not quite as comfy as some other Hokas

Our commerce editor, Luke Guillory, has been a longtime Transport owner, and he knows what the shoes do well:

"I was a Hoka Transport 1.0 user. I got them before, or maybe right at, launch for testing, and I was won over pretty quickly. The main draw for me is their versatility. These are simultaneously my best workout, running, and hiking shoes. Are they excellent in any one area? No, but they can do a little bit of everything.

The Cordura upper and Vibram sole are big durability touches on a sneaker of this price. The midsole isn't as beefy as others, but it's still soft. The colorways lean simple and urban, which helps these stand out from the bright Hoka road-runner pack. If you're new to the brand, I think the Transport is a phenomenal entry.

Here's what I said in that original review. Over a year later, I'd say the exact same thing about this exact same pair.

Before taking them out of the city to put them through their paces, I took one Saturday in Brooklyn and put about 12 miles on these shoes, just walking. I put in something like 25,000 steps, and when I got back to my apartment eight hours later, I felt like I still had another few miles in me. And the next day, no aches, no pains, I wasn't even remotely sore. I consider myself an athletic guy, so I wasn't expecting to be bedridden after a day of strolling, but how good I felt was uncanny."
