In this country, which is the heart of Buddhist and Hinduism, you can encounter traces of history and faith at every step. Kathmandu Valley offers a unique experience to its visitors with its unique temples and old city texture, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Nepal is an ideal destination not only for those looking for adventure but also for those looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature. Get ready to experience nature and culture in the heart of the Himalayas!
Ganesh Himal offers a legendary trekking route in the heart of the Himalayas in the east of Nepal. This route offers a warm interaction with the local people, full of natural beauty and cultural richness. You can take a calm and peaceful walk in the valleys decorated with red, pink and yellow rhododendrons. Here are detailed information and discovery journey suggestions about this unforgettable trekking route!
The first step of Ganesh Himal Trekking starts with a drive to the pass between the checkpoints of Langtang National Park. While passing through the Rasuwa region along the way, we start from the mountainous village of Dhunche and travel for about 8 hours through scenic valleys and forests. Our last stop is Parvati Kunda, named after the Hindu Goddess Parvati. Here, we meet the colorfully dressed villagers from the local Tamang ethnic group who welcome us. In the evening, you can enjoy local dances and songs at the campfire. An unforgettable evening awaits you where you will relieve stress and feel the peace of nature!
With the awakening of nature in the early hours, you will open your eyes to the view of the Ganesh Himal mountain range. Then, we climb towards Yuri Kharka, advancing through pine forests. Here, you will come across fascinating pine forests, moss-covered streams and many endemic plants. A paradise for flora lovers to explore in the Alpine forests! As you proceed towards Khurpu Bhanjyang, endless valleys and the 200-meter Chukarma Waterfall will greet you in the depths of pine forests. The first camp is set up next to an old abandoned mine.
This day, you will have a challenging but rewarding trek! You will climb to Pangsang Kharka, which is on the border of Ganesh Himal and Rasuwa and Dhading districts. This pass is like a terrace that rises up to 4,400 meters in the middle of Nepal’s dazzlingly high rugged terrain. You can enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Manaslu. The vast grassland area offers an ideal location as a camping point, adorned with a giant entrance gate. To spend the night in this pass, you can either pitch a tent or choose to stay in poor conditions in nearby huts. However, it is important to take dry food and snacks with you!
The most fascinating part of this trek is when you enter the village of Tipling, which is mostly inhabited by the Tamang people. Tipling is home to a deep-rooted culture influenced by Shamanism and Tantrism. Here you will encounter rituals that bear traces of Hinduism and Buddhism. The Tibetan Gompas, where children greet tourists with Rhododendron flowers in their hands, are the main feature of the village. Traditional dances and rituals make this village a most remote and different cultural experience to be had.
Your path will pass by Shertung Village, where culture and colors intertwine. This village, densely populated by Tamangs, was born from the legendary search for gold. The name Shertung means “place of gold”. The warm-hearted villagers invite you to their homes and are eager to welcome you with traditional food. Shaman dances, Ghode (Horse) dance and other traditional rituals await you in this village. An ideal stop to discover mountainous village life and the handcrafted products of local artisans!
Descending towards Borlang and Ukhum for lunch, we pass through Lishne Forest. Several hanging bridges and natural wonders await you on this route. Our last stop is Jharlang village with panoramic views of the peaks. The traditional huts with black slate stones and the unique view of the barley and corn fields will fascinate you in this village.
On the last day, we reach Kimtang Phedi through lush forests and rice fields. This river basin offers an ideal place to relax and swim in its cool waters. Board a bus or vehicle to return to Dhadhing Besi and begin your journey back to Kathmandu.
- Bring Your Own Tent: In these areas where accommodation options are limited, bringing your own tent is a must.
- Clothing Layering Recommendation: Temperatures can be around 20-30 degrees during the day, but cool in the evenings. Gore-tex jackets and spare clothes should be with you.
- Plan Your Food and Water Needs: Since overnight accommodations are scarce, it is important to bring enough dry food and water with you.
- Precautions Against Altitude Sickness: Remember to take precautions against altitude sickness at altitudes exceeding 4,000 meters.
- Take Time to Explore Local Life: Spend at least a day getting to know the local villages and interacting with the people.
