3 songs from London Morning to boost your playlist

London Morning's associate producer, Ryan Soulliere, listens to a lot of music for his role picking tunes for the show. In any given week, that's about 25 songs. Here are his top three local and Canadian picks from last week.

Willow Switch - Baba Yaga

London's Willow Switch describe themselves as "a dark experimental folk/drone band". With the use of instruments like saws and droning banjoes, the local duo definitely capture a dark mood but there are bright spots in the darkness.

Baba Yaga is a wonderfully haunting song that will work well as a morning daystarter or when you want to unwind.

Tom Dunphy - September is Gone

From Tom Dunphy's latest solo album Everything Was New comes September is Gone. This pandemic inspired song is a great reminder to savour each moment while the sun still shines. If you like old school twang a la Hank Williams than September is Gone will fit well on your playlist.

And if you are inclined to see this song performed live, Tom is at The Richmond Tavern this afternoon, July 19, performing with the band he put together for the album.

Sargeant X Comrade - Power

Now for something with a bit of funk. Sargeant X Comrade hail from Calgary and their latest album Power, Vol. 1 is a mixed bag of great music that brings in mellow funk, R&B, rap and more.

The title track Power is a layed back song that reflects on who is and who should be using power and for what means. Power is a great song for just about any occasion and will sit well on a party mix.
