This Canada Day marks the country's 158th birthday. While there are events commemorating the day in all corners of the city, several malls, government offices and stores will be taking the day off.

Here's what's open and closed in London this Canada Day:

Shopping and businesses
  • White Oaks Mall, CF Masonville Place and Westmount Shopping Centre will all be closed Tuesday.
  • The Covent Garden Market is closed Tuesday.
  • Most grocery stores will be closed for the holiday, but shoppers can check individual stores' websites for exceptions and details.
  • The Beer Store is opening three of its London locations on Canada Day, including at 1600 Dundas St. E., 414 Wharncliffe Rd. S. (drive-thru only) and 1080 Adelaide St. N. The stores are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • All LCBO stores will be closed Tuesday.
Government facilities
  • All banks and city administrative offices are closed for the holiday, including City Hall, Citi Plaza, all Ontario Works offices and Provincial Offences Administrative Offices.
  • Garbage will not be collected Tuesday, and collection will shift forward by one day.
Recreation
  • All city spray pads and wading pools are open for the season, operating between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Storybook Gardens is open as usual from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Recreation centres will be open throughout the city on Canada Day, and will offer free programming including yoga, crafts, swimming, badminton and science workshops. A full list of offerings and hours is on the city's website.
Public transit
  • London transit will operate on a holiday schedule Tuesday, meaning fewer buses will be on the road than on a usual weekday.
  • Several detours and stop closures will be in place on Tuesday due to Canada Day festivities. Riders are encouraged to visit the London Transit website to plan their route.
Roads and bridges
  • Dundas Street between Ridout and Wellington streets will be closed all day on Canada Day for festivities.
  • Talbot Street between King Street and Carling Street will also be closed all day Tuesday.
  • Churchill Avenue between Manitoba and Edmonton streets will be closed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Canada Day.
  • Cove Road between Orchard Street and Wharncliffe Road South will be closed between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Queens Avenue from Ridout Street North to Riverside Drive and Wharncliffe Road North will be closed from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday to accommodate fireworks.
  • Ridout Street North from Fullarton to King streets will also be closed between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday.
  • Thames Street from Dundas Street to Harris Park Gate will be closed from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Canada Day.
  • Queens Bridge and Kensington Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic only starting at 8 p.m. July 1.
